Top 10 Things I hate about Pediatric Hosptials

1)   Beeping Machines
When I get home I am going to praise my microwave for being so quiet
      and well-behaived.

2)   Hospital Socks
They are itchy as heck and don't keep your feet warm.

3)    Thermostat Wars
Because in a shared room, no one should ever be comfortable.

4)   PDS (Public Display of Sobbing)
People who will walk into the middle of the family room and start sobbing.
Loudly. I'm not saying it's not okay to cry, but for the love of God go cry
in the bathroom like everyone else. Why do you think they have kleenex there?

5)    Cafeteria Food
Because no matter what the special of the day is, it seems to taste
       like the same dish.

6)   The Ball and Chain
Also known as the IV pole. It follows your kid wherever he goes.

7)   Mystery Ice Chests
Sometimes it's just not clear what the hospital staff is carrying around.
Is that a spare part in there or just a couple of six packs of Mountain Dew?
Well, okay maybe I actually like the mystery.

8)  Creepy Murals
I'm worried if I fall asleep for too long that the elves, bunnies and
pink elephants are going to come after me.

9)   IV Tube Macramé
My son's IV tubes keep getting so tangled I'm starting to think that we should
      start creating some crafts.

10) Parent "Bed"
I guess the hospital figures that comfort is not worth the investment since you
won't be able to sleep here anyway?

Top 10 things I like about Pediatric Hospitals

1)     Free Kleenex
        Because, you know, it's free.

2)     Room Service
Well, sort of. That's what I'm calling it. And better yet, they change diapers.

3)     Surgical Scrubs
Because that shower cap thing they wear makes my even my bed-head look good.

4)    Day or night, you can walk around in your pajamas
What, that's only the kids? Oops.

5)    Nurses who bring me coffee
Sometimes, I think they are really angels who have come to earth.

6)     Kids
Because even a sick kid is just a kid. Their little spirits are unstoppable.

7)     Free toys
Because it really brightens his little day.

8)    Cold showers
They are really great for my hair. When it takes 20 minutes to heat up the water,
I know the hospital is really only wanting my hair to be extra shiny and manageable.

9)    No one is going to ask why your kid is bald
Sometimes, it can be a relief to be in a place where people aren't weirded out by
       the whole cancer/sick kid thing.

10)  Volunteers, Donors & Child Life Specialists
The people who come into to brighten the day for these little kids. Daily life here
can be so boring. I wish there were more of them.
